SUFFIX -ED Anchor Chart

suffix ed phonics

Is the -ED suffix tricky for your kiddos like it is mine?

We learned about the 3 different sounds the suffix -ed can make
(/d/, /t/, and /id/).

If you ZOOM in, you’ll see the trick on how to know which sound it makes.

I try to incorporate as many multi-sensory techniques into the lesson throughout the week.  We also use our sound tents to practice the 3 different sounds of this suffix.  Watch below!

We also used our sand trays to practice along with the ed suffix anchor chart.

I say, “You know 2 ways to make this sound. The sound is /d/.”

The students say, “d says /d/ and ed says /d/.”

Click below to see it in action!

As part of the “We Love Phonics” program…I have a slideshow that covers this concept.

It goes through each sound the suffix -ed can make and example words.  I refer to the ed suffix anchor chart as well.  It even includes some printables to go with it! Click here!
