Reading Stations…
Reading group time is a time where students need to work independently while the teacher can focus with small groups or individuals.
This board shows the students which reading station to go to each day. I rotate the groups daily. The students can refer to the chart each day to know exactly where they should be and what they should be doing.
The reading stations include:
Red Words (high frequency words)
EEKK (Partner reading)
At a Seat (Independent Reading)
Desk Work (Games with a partner or group)
Teacher Station
Math Stations…
In elementary it is important to make math an engaging part of the day.
I love to incorporate math games into our daily routine through math stations. We begin with a mini lesson, math station time, then a review at the end of the time block.
While one group is working with me in a small group, the rest of the class is at a math station. They only go to one station per day…visiting each station once a week. There are a total of 5 stations set up.
The math stations include:
Teacher Station
Math Facts
At Your Seat (Finish work or play math game)
Technology
Hands-On (Fun math game with friends)
This format has worked so well the students seem engaged the entire time!
The station headers for math and reading are available in my TPT store and are completely editable. Click Here!
Science of Reading...
The science behind fluent readers is important to me. I made a free guide for teachers and parents to make it easy to incorporate the Science of Reading with their students. The research behind the Science of Reading is so intriguing and I wanted to share how I incorporate it daily into my instruction. I wanted to make it SIMPLE for teachers to make this shift to teaching phonemic and decoding skills explicitly.
