Classroom management is the key to success and your sanity.

Positive behavior classroom management for first grade is always a fun thing to tackle!  Ha ha!

It takes time, but when it is established, boy does it make a difference.

One key to my success is staying calm. Students feed off how your mood is that day.  Of course, we are all going to have bad days, but more good days are the key!

Here are some of my favorite tricks:

  1. PBIS…Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (see PBIS Toolkit photo above)
  2. Whole class reward…I use a gum ball machine.  I add a gum ball each time the whole class is “caught” being awesome or they get a compliment from another teacher.
  3. Visual timers on the Smart Board
  4. “Secret Walker” tickets
  5. Substitute teacher tickets to give when I’m away
  6. Wireless Doorbell for quiet signal
  7. Visual for supply caddy
  8. Teacher vs. Class Points
